PP-4 is a continuous distillation unit that consists
of two sections: a vacuum flasher and a two-column
atmospheric unit.
Its main purpose is to fractionate a multicomponent hydrocarbon
stream into boiling range fractions. PP-4 can run at atmospheric
or sub-atmospheric pressures, which means cutpoints are
between 80°C and 560°C. The unit is completely
automated, with all the process and emergency control
functions achieved via the Paragon computer control system.
